STORY/ Inspiration:
When I make clothes, I can feel when they have a home to go to. There's something almost preverbal, primal, powerful: a rawness and also a deep connection to lineage. Gratitude for my ancestry (my grandmother taught me to sew) and a grace amidst the grittiness of this modern paced life slows me down. Combining cast away clothes/ scraps with lux fabrics represents a process of internal transformation. These garments symbolize our interconnectednss as whole and our uniqueness as an important threads in the tapestry of life. Each piece seems to land with its rightful person to honor their unique journey in a universal search for meaning and love.
This Crop Top:
This was part of a mini collection of reverse engineered (upcycled) sweaters turned into crop tops with the help of this stunning print. Its sister sold the night of SolaVita's lauch @urbanuniversityoakland
